Danielle Taylor is a trauma focused psychological therapist and is passionate about providing local children and adults with the help they need to nourish their mental and physical wellbeing.

Danielle is also a gifted writer. Her first book, ‘Sally the Seagull’, published next year by Hammond House, is a gentle picture book for children that shows the quiet power of kindness and how children and adults alike can learn to use sensory mindfulness tools for everyday wellbeing.

Through social media and blog platforms, Danielle has always been a natural storyteller, relaying nuggets of psychological wisdom through engaging posts and simple takeaway exercises for her followers. She has built up a portfolio of engaging features which she is working to get in print and is available for commission as both a freelance writer and columnist for lifestyle magazines, drawing on her vast expertise across psychology, fitness and nutrition as a therapist – and a former 15-year career as a firefighter.

A natural and empathic leader, Danielle holds space at many wellbeing and therapeutic retreats and will be running one of several ‘Writing for mental health’ workshops at the Hammond House LitFest 2026.

Their Journey

We first met Danielle at the Litfest 2025 when she attended Jessica Johnson’s course on ‘Writing for Magazines’. Danielle applied to the Billboard to help elevate her ambitions as a writer.

With the help of the Billboard Showcase, Danielle has channeled her ideas into different writing modes. The first was based on her long-term ambition to write a wellbeing column for the media. We helped Danielle to create a pitch for her blog posts that she sent to a series of national lifestyle magazines with view to write a feature for them.

When she applied to the Showcase, Danielle had almost completed two non-fiction books centred around emotional and physical wellbeing. One of these, an illustrated children’s book based around mindfulness, is in the process of being published by Hammond House. On publication, the Showcase will help her with marketing and PR and help her secure a home for the book at stores and outlets both locally and nationally in addition to author events, workshops and book signings.

Danielle strives to reach as many people and communities as she’s able to, to ensure no one is without the tools and support to optimise their mental and physical health and wellbeing. Danielle has written a proposal for a series of workshops based around writing for better mental and physical wellbeing. These are in the process of being secured at a local NHS training centre as a paid for training package or as a venue for Danielle to run her courses at.

Danielle is looking forward to signing copies of her first book at the Hammond House LitFest this February and running a workshop on writing for greater wellbeing.

‘The billboard journey has been phenomenal,’ says Danielle. ‘I have ben writing my whole life but never thought it would become more than a hobby. The billboard has helped me recognize that I have an ability in something that provides me with such joy.

My mentor, Jessie, has cheerleaded me through the whole process and helped me believe that the impossible is possible, filling me with self-belief. It’s been really positive and awe inspiring to meet the other artists, too, and see them take flight with their talents!’
